The Riding School at Maplewood Stables

About Wendy Jaksick, Director of Riding School Wendy Jaksick is an ARIA certified instructor who has recently moved her riding school, Galena Equestrian Center to Maplewood! She brings with her students ranging in age from 4 to 84 and teaches English, Western, Bareback and/or Natural Horsemanship in the arena or out on the trail. Wendy has spent her life working with horses. She grew up on a working cattle ranch in which she and her family still own and enjoy today. Wendy started showing Quarter Horses at the age of 5. She showed Western as a youngster, English Equitation and Jumpers as a teen and spent her adult life riding on the trail and learning Natural Horsemanship.

Maplewood Welcomes Wendy Jaksick and the Galena Equestrian Center!

Maplewood Stables offers a wonderful riding school with horses for any level of riding.

Students are encouraged to be involved in the care and maintenance of the horses, on specific days, away from lessons. This enables the students to learn the day to day responsibilities of horsemanship with the other students and spend quality time with the horses!

Wendy puts on an optional Horse Show for the kids every 4-6 weeks. The Shows are judged and ribbons are awarded in Novice English, Western and Bareback classes as well as fun classes and games on horseback created by the students.

Clinics are done on a regular basis and include a specific topic of horsemanship given by one or more of Maplewood's staff.

Trail Rides

For those who want a break from the arena instruction, Wendy has certain days set aside for Trail Rides. Maplewood has access to many different trails. You can choose a half day creek side ride through Galena Canyon, into the magnificent Galena Forest, riding through the exclusive Montreux Golf Course... or riding down the beach of Washoe Lake into its sandy dunes with gorgeous views of the Sierra Mountains... You and your friends and family pick the trail, we will ride it!

Parties!

We do parties, too! Spend your day with the horses! We can make it all happen at Maplewood!
